Broken Bones

Well, I have officially turned the broken bone page of being a mom. Yep....the first one of my kids to break a bone is.......JONAH!!!

Yesterday whilst( yes I really did say whilst) I was making dinner, Dylan and Jonah were wrestling in the family room. Then Jonah starts crying. Ron says to me, "That is not Jonah's normal cry, something must be wrong." Then comes Jonah running holding his left arm. I was afraid to look thinking his arm would be bent out of shape or something. Needless to say Jonah and I were off to the ER leaving a very devastated Dylan. He was so upset and felt like it was his fault...poor kid.

Anyway, the waiting room of the ER wasn't very full so I thought we would be in and out of there.....not the case. We left for the ER at 5:45pm and didn't get home unitl 2 am!

After some xrays they told us that Jonah fractured his arm just below his wrist in two places...including the growth plate.

Now he has a black cast that looks a little scrappy. After they cast him, they sawed open the sides to allow room for swelling and then used surgical tape to hold it all together. I asked if the tape was supposed to hold and he said probably not and then walked out of the room. Nice...they couldn't even give me some free tape.

Jonah is in pretty good spirits. Every now and then he gets mad and cries because he wants the cast off.

It is going to be a long 4 weeks.

Fall Carnival

We went to our Elder's Quorum social last night and it was carnival theme. The kids had a blast.

There was bobbing for apples, donut eating contest, three-legged races and food.

It was even kind of cool outside so it actually felt like fall.

Dylan the Page

I am a terribly proud mother right now. Dylan was chosen by his teacher to become a Page. He was awarded this honor at a Knighting ceremony today.

Here is what she wrote about Dylan that they read at the ceremony:

"I nominate Dylan Lamont to be a Page because he is an OUTSTANDING student. He is very dependable and has been helpful to me in so many ways. He is very responsible and completes his assignments in a timley manner and his homework is always turned in. He goes above and beyond what is asked of him and always with a smile and a 'Yes Mam.' Dylan has a very positive attitude towards school. He is always happy and I have never heard him complain about doing work or when something is asked of him. He enjoys working with others and his classmates enjoy being around him. It is my pleasure to nominate Dylan as a First Grade Page."

What a great kid I have.

Poor excuse for a birthday

So, the babies turned one on the 13th. Poor kids...we didn't do a thing on their birthday. They stayed in their pj's all day and we didn't even leave the house once. Well, the guilt set in so I decided to do a little get together the Monday after their birthday....I even fudged the date on the camera people so that in later years they could look back at these pictures and have no clue that we were slackers....dispicable I know. I managed to throw a cake mix in a pan and bake it. Then I managed to cut them each a slice (with no frosting..trying to save myself a little cleanup time) and plop it in front of them for the traditional " I'm one..watch me put my hands in birthday cake and make a huge mess" picture. I think the picture with the bowl on Tyler's head is even rigged.

Absolutey pathetic.

Maybe I should erase this so there is no evidence.

What will you be for Halloween!!

We had our ward Halloween party on Friday. Dylan was black spiderman, Cierra was an elegant witch, Jonah was Thomas the Train and the babies were greasers. Landon looks thrilled in these pictures doesn't he? He is upset because I am weaning them off their bottles now that they are a year. Always fun.
Thank you Aunt Kristen and Grandma for the costumes!!!

Decorating Cookies

Cierra and our friend Hunter

Dylan's cheesy smile

Jonah got a little carried away with the
sprinkles.

Jonah, Dylan, Cierra and Hunter

We made Halloween cookies today and decorated them. They are just for us and not for anyone else...the kids kept asking me this because anytime we make something yummy it is usually for someone else.

This one's for you Aunt Kristen!

Thank you Aunt Kristen for the fun Halloween package you sent. Here they are drinking with their spooky cups and spooky straws and if you look closely you can see that Cierra has on the necklace she made.

We love you!!

Dylans turns 7!!

My firstborn child just turned seven on the 8th of October. I can't believe how fast it has gone. I am going to be corny for a second...so bear with me....I was listening to the radio today and Kenney Chesney's new song, "Don't Blink" came on. It is about an old man that turns 100 they are asking him what the secret to life is and he says that a hundred years goes faster than you think...da da da da da..don't blink. It says that your 6 year old goes to take a nap and wakes up and he is 21.

Anyway, there is more and you should hear it..but I got tears in my eyes just thinking about how some times I wish the day away. As much as life has it's stresses and it is hard, I wouldn't trade these years with my children for anything. So, I am going to try to take in every moment with them. I do not want any regrets.

Corn Maze

We went to a corn maze in Hondo, Texas. They had military day so we got to go for free.

We went with a couple of families from our Ward and had a great time. And you would never guess......IT WAS HOT!!!
